Exposure to chemicals during early pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant and i am a little concerned because for the past week my husband has been varnishing all the woodwork, will all the fumes hurt my unborn baby? I didn't know I was pregnant yet or I wouldn't have let him do it while I was there.
