I cannot understand the concept of dating. What is behind this teen custom?

I agree dating in middle and highschool is retarded and a waste of time. I would like to point out that once you get older you should change. It is not that important to date now but if you never seek romance as you become an adult or you will live a very lonely life. But, like you said now is not the time for that.
