Why do people think religions promoting vegetarianism are cowardly?

I have to admit, I didn't read all of either of those fairly long articles, but the only reference I found to anything approximating "cowardly" was a reference to Hindus as "non-martial" or something like that. Are you presuming that the only reason they're called "non-martial" is because they're vegetarians? And are you presuming that "non-martial" is somehow insulting? Personally, I don't consider that a bad thing.
